notes and others:
(↑↓)
= inverted verses from the original order to make more sense.
¹
Here, he uses the word 見舞い
(mimai)
that means "visiting ill or distressed
people; writing get-well letters"
according to Jisho.org.
So when he sings about the visitors, these people were visiting him
in reason of illness.
²
The last verse is written in japanese but he sings it in english.

If I'd understand well, the "gata" from the title define
the type of the pomegranate (ZAKURO), just like "earth banana"
ZAKUROgata no yuutsu must mean something like "depressed
pomegranate" or "melancholic pomegranate"
I've
read that "the pomegranate is a metaphor with the human heart.
The lyrics is about a men which is in the hospital because there's
something wrong his heart. His girlfriend die so he can use her
heart. (...)". I also read that the RUKI'S BRIDE BROKE UP WITH
HIM SO HE WROTE THIS SONG ABOUT IT, and many others nonsenses.
I
think the first theory is closer to be right, but, I don't think this
is a story about a couple but a story about a son and a
mother, just watching the MV: in the beginning there's a kid, and
after, lots of scenes of a sad woman (adult). And in the end Ruki
throws a pomegranate in the reflection of this woman.
I
honestly think this is not important, the most important thing about
this song, for me, is the way they express the sacrifices that people
do in name of love.
