[translation] ウラノメトリア (URANOMETRIA) - GRIMOIRE - グリモア

Uranometria – Measuring the Heavens¹

kowareta hito tsuboshi no
I take the fragments
kakera wo atsumete
of a broken morning-star

fukai fukai umi no soko de
if you turn on the lights
akari wo tomoseba
in the deep, bottom of the sea

hora uchuu ni natta
you will see the universe

nanzen kounen mo saki no
thousands of light-years ago,
shoutai fumei no kimi ga wa natta
you had already become a stranger
nanzen RUKUSU no hikari mo
neither thousands of lux can
kochi ni wa todo kanai no ni
light this place

mada miteru
I still can see

otonari no ohime sama nanto sutekina koto deshou
"how cute this princess who lives next door,
namida wo onegashi dekakushite
dressing up to hide her tears,
hanataba wo sasage you”
let's give her flowers"

someni chiriba meta
I started to stud*
hoshi kuzu no koe ga
the voice of a star, that never appeared*
awanoyouni kieru
Like bubbles bursting,
soreta maru de bokutachi no
we lost each other completely

[** not sure about this two lines]

mono gatari no you
Like a fairy tail

SO MAYBE TIME IS OVER
hajime kara zutto
but, from the beginning to the eternity,
kimatteta koto nano ni
everything was already decided
I’M SORRY
mayakashi no ito
for this false intents,
demo hodokenai
but I can't let it go

soko ni watashi ga ita nara…”
"if I was there..."

machibouke no PIRIODO
in this useless waiting period
namikaze wa sowa sowa
in which the wind and waves was restless
togireta te to te no sen
we stop, join our hands and
URANOMETORIA
measured the heavens

sora ni chiriba meta
I stud the sky with
ikutsu mono yume wa
lots of dreams
awa ni tokete ochiru
that like bubbles bursting, vanished

soko wa tobenai ningyo ga
In a miniature garden
oboreta hakoniwa
a mermaid that couldn't fly drowned

[this two lines looks weird on context, but I translated it literally]

moshimo tsugini boku jyanai mono ni
If in next time, I don't
umarekawatte
reborn,
kimi to mita subete ga kiete mo
even if you and all I know has vanished
kowareta hoshi ni negai o kake you
a broken shooting star will fly

itsukamata
and some day

koko de aemasu you ni
we will meet here again

Translator notes:

¹ The word "Uranometria" derives from Urania, Muse of the heavens and "uranos" (oυρανός) the Greek word for sky / heavens. A literal translation of "Uranometria" is "Measuring the Heavens" (to be compared with "Geometry"-"Geometria" in Greek, literally translated to "Measuring the Earth"). >> Read more <<

I received SO MANY requests of this translation that I submitted myself to the challenge of reading the scribbles of the booklet and try to bring the best as possible to you, nobody can say I'm not cool u-u

To translate anything only from hiragana is a hard work (even more when the hiragana is a fukin scribble) I stayed about hours looking to the part that says “ほしくずのこえが (hoshi kuzu no koe ga) thinking if it is 星屑 (hoshikuzu = stardust) or 星くず (hoshi = star ; kuzu= "to come" in the negative form) 'cause none of this was making sense on my mind (or maybe it doesn't make sense because I was about hours looking to the same phrase)

Probably I will still think about this, and maybe I edit the parts I didn't understand well in future, but in general, you can understand the song well. Hope you like it!

You can send me corrections, comments, theories, criticisms and whatever else you want to send, if they find any errors or find something that can be improved!
